After you’ve been sight-seeing, shopping or heavens-above working all day there is something utterly euphoric about settling down to a slice of cake and a brew. And not just any brew – something decadent, ideally involving whipped cream, perhaps with sprinkles and served with a smile as you sink into a deep comfy chair. This cake and coffee, the best I have had in some time, was happily glugged in a toy museum in Suomenlinna, after escaping -10oC temperatures, with flushed cheeks and a rumbling tummy. The setting was perfect: chipped china, eclectic furniture and a roaring fire but sometimes even a grotty cafe can feel like paradise as you take the weight off weary feet. Really, truly a wonderful guilty pleasure.
